While we enjoy following our favorite celebrities’ lives, at some point, we will likely read celebrity obituaries about the passing of a beloved star. Whether it’s death from natural causes or tragic circumstances, we can fondly remember celebrities even after they pass.

Finding Celebrity Obituaries

As with most things on the Internet, finding celebrity obituaries is not such a difficult task. Here are just some of the sites you can visit for more information about celebrities who have passed away:

  • Life in Legacy – This site celebrates those famous on stage, screen, politics and sports. Look at each week or search for the celebrity of your choice.
  • Dead or Alive -- Can’t remember if a celebrity has really passed away or not? The Dead or Alive site allows you to search for celebrities and find out if they are still among the living.
  • Celebrity Death Beeper – This site allows you to sign up to receive email updates for celebrity deaths.
  • Celebrity Smack – This blog has a section for recent celebrity death news.
  • Showbuzz – The CBS Showbuzz site provides a 'Late & Great' section with the latest celebrity death news.

Tragic Celebrity Deaths

Over the years, there have been more than a few shocking celebrity deaths. iVillage provides a slideshow of their choices for the 10 most shocking celeb deaths. Here’s a rundown of their list:

  • Phil Hartman – Hartman was shot and killed by his wife on May 28, 1998.
  • Anna Nicole Smith – Smith lived her life under a microscope, until her accidental death on February 8, 2007.
  • James Dean – His tragically young death (age 24) was the result of a car accident on September 30, 1955.
  • Sharon Tate – Tate was stabbed multiple times by Manson family members on August 9, 1969. She was pregnant at the time of her death.
  • John Belushi – A victim of excess, Belushi died of a drug overdose on March 15, 1982.
  • John F. Kennedy Jr. – Kennedy died July 16, 1999 in a plane crash.
  • Elvis Presley – This rock idol passed away from cardiac arrhythmia on August 16, 1977.
  • Marilyn Monroe – Never one to shy from the spotlight, Monroe died of an apparent drug overdose on August 5, 1962.
  • John Lennon – A Beatle and an activist, Lennon was murdered on December 8, 1980 by Mark David Chapman after Lennon signed an autograph for him.
  • Princess Diana – Royalty, devoted mother and humanitarian all in one, Diana died on August 31, 1997 in a car accident.

Celebrity Grave Sites

If you’ve ever wondered where your favorite celebrity is buried, the site Find a Grave provides a searchable database of celebrity graves. Select 'Famous Grave Search' and type in the celebrity’s name – the results include a small bio and link to read more information about the person, with information about the location of their grave and photos of the grave site. Visitors can leave virtual flowers and notes to remember the deceased. The main page of the site also has a link for 'Recent Obituaries.'

While many a celebrity has passed away in 2007, here are just some of the celebrity obituaries:

  • Richard Jeni – The comedian who died from apparent suicide on March 10 at age 49
  • Don Ho – Hawaiian musician; passed away April 14 from heart failure at age 76.
  • Tom Poston – Actor best known for his role on Newhart; died April 28 at age 85.
  • Charles Nelson Reilly – Match Game panelist; passed away from complications from pneumonia on May 25 at age 76.
  • Don Herbert – Known as “Mr. Wizard;” died June 12 from bone cancer at age 89.
  • Beverly Sills – Opera singer; passed away July 2 at age 78 from lung cancer.
  • Tom Snyder – Talk show host/journalist; passed away at age 71 on July 29 from leukemia.
  • Merv Griffin – Talk show host, real estate tycoon, and game show creator; passed away from prostate cancer on August 12 at age 82.
  • Luciano Pavarotti – Famed opera singer; passed away at age 71 on September 6 from pancreatic cancer.
  • Jane Wyman – Actress and first wife of Ronald Reagan; died on September 10 at age 90.
  • Brett Somers – Best known for being a panelist on Match Game; passed away September 15 at age 83 from stomach and colon cancer.
  • Joey Bishop – The last surviving member of the Rat Pack; passed away October 17.
  • Robert Goulet - singer and actor, passed away from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis on October 30 at age 73.
  • Dick Wilson – Actor, best known for his role as Mr. Whipple on Charmin commercials; died of natural causes November 19 at age 91.
