Celebrity Fit Club 5
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
From sitcom actors to rappers, Celebrity Fit Club 5 will have it all. Returning for its fifth season in April 2007, this VH1 celebreality show will showcase overweight celebrities who want to shed a few pounds on national television.
About Celebrity Fit Club
Celebrity Fit Club, launched in January 2005, divides eight celebrities (some D-list) into two teams. Each group's goal is to lose weight over the course of 100 days. The team with the largest percentage of weight lost wins the grand prize, usually cash and a home gym, a vacation, or equivalent. There are three consultants who work with each contestant medically, physically and psychologically to help them lose weight. The show, hosted by comedian ANT, is never without drama or fanfare.
Panel of Experts
There's nothing more inspiring when losing weight than to be supported by your peers and a group of experts who take a "no holds barred" approach to eating right and being healthy. This is what Celebrity Fit Club 5 is all about.
Dr. Ian Smith
This Harvard graduate and former NBC medical correspondent inspires contestants to lose weight in a safe, healthy and effective way. He's the creator of the best-seller The Fat Smash Diet and is also on the board of directors at the American Council on Exercise.
Drill Sergeant Harvey Walden IV
Each week, Harvey Walden, a no-nonsense U.S. Marines drill instructor, will take cast members through a grueling "Fit Camp." Contestants take part in a range of physical and motivational activities designed to help them lose weight, increase team spirit and rivalry, and win prizes.
Psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser
Psychotherapist Stacey Kaiser is new this season, replacing psychologist Linda Papadopoulos. She will provide counseling and psychological motivation to the eight team members. Kaiser will help the stars realize the underlying problems behind their weight gain and encourage them to meet their weight loss goals.

Highlights from Previous Seasons
Celebrity Fit Club hasn't been without drama, emotion, and most of all, weight loss.
Season One
Three Fat Bastards and a Black Beyotch (winning team) versus the Eastsiders: Actor Daniel Baldwin, team captain for the Eastsiders, did not show up for the final weigh-in after going AWOL mid-season. His team lost.
Season Two
Sizzlin’ Soul and White Ice (winning team) versus The Winners: Take two for Snapple lady Wendy Kaufman, from The Winners team, who made her second appearance on the show after gaining back the weight she lost the first time. Her team lost as well.
Season Three
Kelly's Bellies (winning team) versus Ebony Flame: Former Taxi star Jeff Conaway, from Kelly's Bellies, left the show mid-season to enter into a drug rehabilitation program. He was replaced by singer Gunnar Nelson. The change helped their team win.
Season Four
Hot Buttered Soul versus The Fat Crushers (winning team): Singer Carnie Wilson, who underwent gastric bypass surgery in 1999 (and broadcast it live over the Internet), was on the defense when the panel of experts challenged her decision to surgically lose weight. Also, Bone Crusher set the record for the most weight lost on the series, a total of 51 pounds. Both were members of The Fat Crushers.
About Celebreality
VH1 is home to numerous celebreality shows -- five- to 10-episode reality programs starring celebrities -- some famous and some, well, not-so-famous. It is obviously a concept that works since a few have aired for more than one season. Some of the more popular celebreality programs on VH1 in 2007 are:
- Celebrity Fit Club 5
- I Love New York
- The Surreal Life Fame Games
- Shooting Sizemore
- Hogan Knows Best 3
