Swank claims their recent split after 13 years of coupledom has more to do with Lowe’s substance abuse problems than her having a more successful career. This was the first marriage for both, and the couple has no children.

One of the more high profile cases in the world of celebrity divorce is the split of serial bride Christie Brinkley and fourth husband, architect Peter Cook. Cook’s alleged affair with a teenager was cited as the cause of the breakup.

Brinkley was previously married to artist Jean-François Allaux from 1973 to 1981, singer Billy Joel from 1985 to 1994 and developer Richard Taubman from 1994 to 1995. She has three children.

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills have called it quits after four years of marriage. McCartney is rumored to have cited “unreasonable behavior” as the cause for divorce. Mills doesn’t believe she’s being unreasonable, however, and promises to fight tooth and nail on both sides of the pond for her due. Because there is no prenup, the battle over McCartney’s $1.5 billion fortune, as well as custody of two-year-old daughter, Beatrice, is bound to be bitter.

ER star Maura Tierney and her husband, actor Billy Morrisette, have announced their separation. The couple have been married 13 years and have no children.

Eminem and Kimberly Mathers are divorcing for a second time. It was announced, however, that the divorce proceedings will be private. The couple remarried on January 14th, 2006 and announced their separation 82 days later. Their first marriage lasted two years. Mathers is seeking joint custody, payment of attorney fees and financial support.
