Celebrity Bulges
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Celebrity bulges can refer to a couple of different things, such as weight gain or pregnancy, as well as the not quite so innocent male version.
Celebrity Bulges and Baby Bumps
From tabloids to celebrity news websites, people seem to be interested in reading about and looking at celebrity bulges, in whatever form they tend to take.
Celebrity bulges can sometimes come in the form of baby bumps. A baby bump refers to the protrusion of a woman's belly when she is pregnant. Since celebrity babies are always big news, the bulges that female celebrities display, as well as the maternity clothing they choose to wear, usually end up in quite a few paparazzi photos.
Famous celebrity moms who have enjoyed a lot of media attention with their baby bumps include:
- Demi Moore
- Elisabeth Hasselbeck
- Jennifer Lopez
- Nicole Richie
- Jamie Lynn Spears
- Katie Holmes
- Angelina Jolie
It can be fun for celebrity watchers to try and guess whether or not a profile picture of a female celebrity includes a baby bump. Often, the media speculates on whether or not a particular star is pregnant or not, and sometimes this comes with disastrous and embarrassing consequences, when the celeb in question turns out not to be pregnant at all.
Some celebrities enjoy the extra media attention, and allow photographers ample access to all stages of pregnancy. Others prefer to keep things quiet, and don't actively show off their baby bumps.
Unsightly Celebrity Bulges
Celebrities are constantly in the media spotlight, which means that weight fluctuations are documented and shared with a eager public. Many celebs have faced scrutiny and downright mocking when they've gained a few pounds. These celebrity bulges appear on websites and tabloids, often with screaming headlines and close-up photos of the offending flab.
Celebrities who have battled with weight gain and struggled publicly with media attention include:
- Jessica Simpson
- Kirstie Alley
- Anna Nicole Smith
- Oprah Winfrey
- Tyra Banks
- Alec Baldwin
- John Travolta
These battles with the bulge can be difficult for celebrities to address, as no one likes to admit that they've gained weight. Many of them, like Oprah, admit the weight gain and vow to do something about it. Others, like Kirstie Alley, embrace their new bodies and offer no apologies. Most of the targets of this type of photograph and coverage are female, though several male starts have dealt with it as well.
Often, when a star loses a considerable amount of weight, he or she will go on to document the celebrity diet and exercise programs. This usually results in more media hype, and coverage of a "new Hollywood diet." The sad part is, if the celeb ends up gaining the weight back, the cycle starts all over again.
Male Celebrity Bulges
It can be difficult to describe these male celebrity bulges for a family audience, which appear below the waist but above the knee. Many people online have been searching for these bulges, and entire websites and blogs have been created to feature photos of celebrity men and their bumps.
Be forewarned that, if you do an internet search for "celebrity bulges," these are the first results that will pop up. Many of the sites are innocent enough, featuring publicity photos, screen shots from movies and television, or widely available pictures with the celebrities fully clothed. Others, however, aren't so modest, and contain nudity and other questionable content. This type of search is definitely not advisable at work, or when children are present.
Why Celebrity Bulges
It seems that every so often, a new trend in celebrity watching comes into play and becomes popular, seemingly overnight. Celebrity bulges is one such trend, and no one can know how long this will last. Other trends have included celebrity feet and celebrity implants. Sooner or later, however, a new hot topic will come along to replace it, and new websites and blogs will sprout up to cover the need for information and pictures.
