Busted Celebrities

It seems like over the past few years, the list of busted celebrities has gotten longer and longer.

The Growing List of Busted Celebrities

Celebrities are busted for al sorts of reason, just like non-celebs. The obvious difference is when Joe Schmoe next door gets picked up for drunk driving, his mug shot isn't plastered all over every possible media outlet and announced on the CNN crawler.

The Drinking

• Lindsay Lohan – One time wasn't enough for the young Miss Lohan. The second time, cocaine was found in her car.
• Paris Hilton – Everyone knows how this went: Drunk driving, probation violation, jail. Apparently celebrating her birthday in not much but a bra and underwear at the Pussycat doll lounge is how she is making those life changes she talked about so much when she was first released from jail.
• Mel Gibson – Not even a public apology regarding the sexist remarks he made to a female officer and the Anti-Semitic remarks he yelled out during his arrest could help him recover his once spotless reputation.

• Tracy Morgan – This SNL alum was busted twice for drunk driving, once in New York and once in Los Angeles.
• Michelle Rodriguez – When she was recently picked up for drunk driving, it was a probation violation. She was sentenced to two months in jail, but was given the option of performing 240 hours of community service in lieu of jail time. She chose jail.
• Nicole Richie – Arrested twice for drunk driving.
• Vivica A. Fox – Not wanting to be a two time loser, Vivica reportedly claimed that after her incident, she was now going to hire a driver.
• Busta Rhymes – Not only drunk driving but driving with a suspended license and two charges of assault.
• Bill Murray – Bill Murray was arrested in Sweden for driving drunk in a golf cart.
• Kiefer Sutherland – Sutherland violated his probation when he was arrested and was sentenced to 48 days in jail.

The Drugs

Drinking and driving seems to be the most common violation that celebrities make, but plenty of celebrities are busted for drug possession.

• Mischa Barton – When picked up for drunk driving, Barton reportedly had marijuana and pills on her.
• Aaron Carter – Busted for weed. No surprise.
• Amy Winehouse – Busted for weed. Again, no surprise.
• Lil Wayne – The rapper was arrested when border patrol officials stopped his tour bus when crossing the state line between California and Arizona. They found four ounces of pot, an ounce of cocaine, 40 milligrams of ecstasy and three guns. The guns were legally registered.
• Al Gore III – The former vice president's son was busted for weed, Valium, Vicodin, Xanax and Adderall (for which he did not have a prescription).

Miscellaneous Busted Celebrities

Celebrities that have been busted for other nefarious activities make the "miscellaneous" list.

• Boy George – Not drinking, not drugs, not weapons but False Imprisonment and Assault. Allegedly, the 80's star, with the help of someone else, handcuffed a 28 year old man to a hook in his home.
• Snoop Dogg – Arrested outside NBC studios. Police found a "large amount of marijuana," cocaine and a gun. This arrest came shortly after he was busted for trying to carry a gun, in his carry on, onto a plane. Now, if the airlines wouldn't let Snoop bring a lighter on the plane at the time, did Snoop really think he was going to slip a gun by security?
• Michael Vick – The Atlanta Falcons Q.B. was arrested on dog fighting charges. Who could have predicted that this 2001 first round NFL Draft pick would end up serving time in Leavenworth just a short time later?

What Seems to be the Problem?

Just about every single one of the celebrities mentioned have amassed fortunes due to their talent, looks or athletic ability. So, what seems to be the problem here? Why do the rich and famous continually get busted for doing these really dumb things? Here are some things the rest of the people in the world are screaming and we have all, no doubt heard these suggestions before, but they bear repeating…just in case the celebrities want to listen:

• Hire a driver or call a cab when you go out drinking.
• Put away your guns - or better yet - stop buying them. Hire a few body guards instead.
• Stop speeding down the freeway with a bag of weed and a handful of pills next to you.
