Britney Spears' financial matters have been the subject of more than a few court hearings. The judge in her conservatorship case ultimately decided that her father, Jamie, would maintain control over the fallen pop-star's financial affairs until this summer. In exchange for managing his oldest daughter's estate, Jamie Spears receives a salary of $2,500 a week, plus cash allowances for car rentals and/or leases.

Britney, the one who shells out for everyone's payroll, not to mention lawyer's fees (for both her and Kevin) and has to pay $25,000 for some mysterious audit at Jive Records is allowed access to a meager $1,500 per week of her own money.

Is She Really That Bad?

The attorney from the firm that is representing Jamie Spears (paid for by Britney, no doubt) stated that the allowance was so Britney could "enjoy herself, have some freedom of choice." Yes, most people could easily get by on $1,500 a week to enjoy themselves, but we're talking about a woman ranked 12 on the Forbes Richest Women in Entertainment list.

Is Britney's mental state in such shambles that her father finds it in her best interest to control where she is spending her money? Some sources say yes, while others say no.

The argument for putting Britney on an allowance would probably be easier to accept if it was a neutral, third party financial or investment company and not from her dad.
