More trouble for Bobby Brown. On February 25, 2007, Brown was arrested at his daughter’s school – and now he’s in hot water for late child support.
Bobby Brown’s Arrest
Bobby Brown was nabbed at his daughter’s cheerleading competition on a warrant for failing to appear at a child support hearing in October 2006. On February 26, 2007, a judge ordered Brown to remain in jail until all of the fees and child support were paid off.
Back Child Support
According to his lawyer, the singer owes $20,000 in court fees and late child support for his two teenage children, Bobby Jr. and La Princia. Brown paid $11,000 in child support in October 2006 to Kim Ward, his former girlfriend and mother of his children. The latest payments are for January, including late penalties and other fees.
History of Arrests
Bobby Brown is no stranger to run-ins with the law.
- He was sentenced to 90 days in prison in 2004 when he missed three months of child support payments, but paid $15,000 and the sentence was suspended.
- In March 2006, Brown was arrested for a motor-vehicle violation from 1992.
- In October 2006, a warrant for his arrest was issued after he missed the child support hearing. This outstanding warrant led to his February 2007 arrest.
Life After Whitney
With his career in limbo, and a divorce in process from Whitney Houston, funds have been tight for the singer. He and Houston were married for 14 years and have one child together, Bobbi Kristina. Houston is seeking custody of their daughter.
