Bob Crowley Wins Survivor Gabon
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
57-year-old high school physics teacher Bob Crowley won the most recent Survivor - Survivor Gabon.
Who Would Have Thought?
Who would have thought that a 57-year-old high school physics teacher from Maine would beat out people half his age? Well, he did, by the scheming strategy of being what he describes as a "nice guy" so "…people would like me." Genius right?
What's even more difficult to believe is that no other contestant thought of this simple, but effective strategy. It's like they've never watched the show. Did they not know that it is the other contestants whose torches were previously extinguished that end up choosing the winner? They must certainly have known that lying and stabbing people in the back does not win you any friends…Sugar.
The Runners Up
Yes, pinup model Sugar made it to the final three, but it was not so surprising that she received zero votes from her former fellow Survivor mates. Instead, Bob Crowley won Survivor Gabon and left Gabon with the $1 million purse and teacher/hairdresser Susie came in second. Sugar came in third simply by being there.
The End of Survivor?
Survivor Gabon marks the 17th season of the show and there are rumblings that host Jeff Probst's contract is up after the next two seasons. Ratings for the once CBS darling have been declining for years and there is speculation that the 20th season will be its last. Don't start fretting just yet super-fans, there has been zero confirmation from Probst or from CBS execs that the rumors have any truth to them.
The next season, Survivor: Tocantins, the Brazilian Highlands, is set to premiere in February of 2009. This season is the first in which contestants under 21 are permitted to apply to be a contestant on the show.
