Barbra Streisand Has a Hissy Fit

From LoveToKnow Celebrity

Barbra Streisand proved she’s a New Yorker at heart. She's made no secret of her political affiliations. This was never more apparent than in New York City the other night when Babs and a George Bush impersonator put on a skit appearing to question our Commander in Chief’s intelligence.

Don't Heckle Barbra Streisand

Many of her fans, who paid hundreds of dollars to hear her sing, weren’t appreciative of the disruption in the entertainment. The crowd offered a smattering of uncomfortable but polite applause, and some even heckled the act. At first Babs asked the hecklers to “Come on, be polite.” When they continued to voice their displeasure, she responded with, “"Shut the f*** up! Shut up if you can't take a joke!" Looks like the joke is on the audience members who spent obscene amounts of cash to hear Barbra sing, but were also treated to her political views.

Babs’ little hissy fit put an end to the heckling. Later she apologized and said that it’s “...an artist’s job to disturb...” and lectured her audience about tolerance. The rest of the performance went on without incident.

Barbra Streisand is on a 20 city tour after a 12-year absence. Critics have praised the singing portions of the show but feel the political skit goes on too long and isn’t very funny. On opening night in Philadelphia, an audience member called out that they came to hear her sing, not preach, and was shushed into silence by the crowd.
