Bad Celebrity Cosmetic Surgeries
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
When you think of bad celebrity cosmetic surgeries, you conjure up many images -- enormous breast enhancements, fake nose jobs and facelifts that are too tight. Plastic surgeries do not always turn a celebrity into a glamorous superstar. Sometimes, either by their own doing or by fault of a doctor, plastic surgery that is supposed to beautify a person can do the exact opposite.
The Link Between Celebrities and Plastic Surgery
Celebrities and cosmetic surgery, for the most part, go hand-in-hand. Actors, musicians and even talk show hosts strive to gain popularity by undergoing treatments that will help them look better, feel younger and overall, be in the limelight for longer periods of time. But this doesn't just go for celebrities -- television personalities and models also are under public scrutiny because of their looks, and therefore turn to various treatments with high price tags. Some of those procedures include:
- Facelift
- Rhinoplasty (nose job)
- Breast augmentation
- Brow lift
- Liposuction
- Microdermabrasion
- Tummy tuck
- Buttock augmentation
- Botox
- Chemical peel
- Hair replacement
Some Bad Celebrity Cosmetic Surgeries
For the most part, celebrities who have undergone treatments come out looking as good or better than they did beforehand. But there are a few superstars out there who would have been better off staying home the day their surgeries were scheduled. Here are a few of the well-known bad celebrity cosmetic surgeries.
Michael Jackson
The "King of Pop" is also known as the "King of Plastic Surgery." Over the years, his face has transformed from having a "normal" African-American look to one that shows absolutely no resemblance to his younger years. From his mid-20s to his early 40s, Jackson has had countless surgeries. According to Celebrity Plastic Pics, the superstar has admitted to only having two nose jobs, but plastic surgeons familiar with Jackson's transformation feel that number could be as high as 30 or 40. Those surgeries, they said, include (but are not limited to):
- Cheek implants
- Chin implants
- Rhinoplasty
- Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)
The former member of The Jackson 5 also said he suffers vitiligo, a condition where the skin loses its pigment. The jury is still out on that one because normally the skin would have patchy spots and Jackson's is smooth.
Jocelyn Wildenstein
More of a socialite by association than a celebrity, Joceyln Wildenstein has reportedly spent nearly $4 million in plastic surgery over the years. She is the former wife of billionaire art dealer Alec Wildenstein. At 50, when her marriage started falling apart, she began transforming herself into a lion as a means of regaining her husband's love, as he was a huge feline lover and owned several large cats. But she never stopped after the first few surgeries. In 2003, Awful Plastic Surgery ranked her as the "world's scariest celebrity." Her surgeries have included:
- Silicone injections to the lips, cheeks and chin
- Facelift
- Eye reconstruction to appear cat-like
- Brow lift
- Blepharoplasty
- Botox in the forehead, frown lines and crow's feet
- Lip implants
Joan Rivers
What hasn't been said about Joan Rivers over the years? This once sexy female celebrity was at the top of her game -- career-wise as well as with her looks. But as she aged, her discovery of plastic surgery has hindered her popularity. Countless Web sites mock her looks -- saying she's gone too far with the surgeries. However, Rivers, who turned 74 in 2007, is proud of what she's done to her body and says that if a woman can afford to have cosmetic surgery, it is worth it for her self-esteem. Her surgeries, according to The Daily Mail, include:
- Two facelifts
- A nose job
- Eye tuck
- Regular use of Botox
- Liposuction
Botched Celebrity Cosmetic Surgeries
It's true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and when it comes to plastic surgery, it is also in the doctor's hands. However, not every surgery turns out perfect. In more instances than none, the patient can end up with more than what he or she bargained for -- including bad celebrity cosmetic surgeries.
Tara Reid
In 2004, the young actress wanted to improve her appearance so she underwent cosmetic surgery to fix her lop-sided cleavage and tone up her abdomen. However, her request for breasts with large B cups turned out to be large C cups -- which did not sit well on her 110-pound frame or her self-esteem. She also developed a rash on her breasts around the incisions that only got worse. Additionally, the liposuction left bulges and ripples on her belly. All of this, she said, was "embarrassing," especially when she accidentally overexposed herself at a party in front of cameras that same year. In September 2006, she underwent reconstructive surgery to correct the problems from the first surgery and endured a painful recovery. As a result, she regained her body and her self-confidence.
Courtney Love
It's one thing to have had bad cosmetic surgery on something you can cover up -- such as your breasts or stomach. But to have a surgery go wrong on your face is something else. Let's look at Courtney Love. The 43-year-old widow of Kurt Cobain started looking a bit out of sorts in 2006 -- a little more than usual for this rocker who has dealt with numerous addictions over the years. It turns out a botched surgery on her nose and lips were the culprit this time. Around Christmas 2006, the rocker underwent reconstructive surgery in Paris, France to fix the problems left from an earlier surgery. She has also vowed "no more surgeries."

Plastic surgery has to faces, its good and bad. Doing plastic surgery because you have fractures, deformity or other types of physical problems,. is a good thing.. However to do plastic surgery because your chin is to big or small, your lips are to small, breast is to small, hips are to small or big etc. Is a bad idea, because you should be happy with your selves, god made us all different, and us all being different is unique. :D
