Anna Nicole Smith's Son's Death Labeled Suspicious
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
What should have been a joyous occasion turned bittersweet for Anna Nicole Smith. Three days after the birth of her daughter, her 20 year-old-son, Daniel Wayne Smith, died in what the Bahamian police have labeled “suspicious” circumstances.
According to reports Smith and “one other person” were in the room with her son when he died. Officials don’t want to disclose the third person’s identity as it might hamper the investigation process. In addition, it’s reported that officials may even know the cause of death but are waiting on toxicology reports for confirmation.
Jury Inquest
Any findings from the toxicology report will not be disclosed until October 23. At which time, a jury inquest will be held. Smith will be required to attend.
Sketchy Details
Details of Daniel Smith’s death are sketchy. It has been reported that he was sleeping in a chair in his mother’s hospital room, when he slumped over. Smith tried to revive him, and a nurse was called. Attempts by doctors and nurses to resuscitate him proved futile. Early reports suggested a heart attack or an overdose of anti depressants, but these suggestions proved to be untrue. The coroner reported to People that Daniel Smith’s death was “not natural.”
In Seclusion
As one would expect, Smith is in seclusion and wishes to mourn her loss in private. A statement at her website reads as follows:
“On September 7th Anna Nicole (Smith) gave birth to a healthy 6 pound, 9 ounce baby girl. Her son Daniel was in the Bahamas with her to share in the joy of his baby sister when he passed away suddenly on the morning of September 10th. We have yet to learn the cause of death but do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor. Anna Nicole is absolutely devastated by the loss of her son. He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being. Please do not make any press inquiries at this time so that Anna Nicole can grieve in peace.”
