Anna Nicole Smith's Death Labeled Accidental
From LoveToKnow Celebrity
Anna Nicole Smith died from an accidental overdose of "methadone, anti-anxiety and weight-reducing drugs and, possibly, vitamins, among other substances," according to People magazine. She died February 8, 2007 in her Florida hotel room.
Medical Examiner's Report
In a report released March 26, 2007, the Broward County, Florida medical examiner stated that Smith "ingested several medications" but those drugs were at "therapeutic levels." Dr. Joshua Perper also said that Anna Nicole Smith also died from a combination of a bacterial infection from injecting medication in her buttocks and the flu.
The Associated Press reports that Smith, 39, also had levels of chloral hydrate, a sedative that also contributed to actress Marilyn Monroe's death in 1962.
No Foul Play
Seminole Tribal Police said there was no wrong-doing in Smth's death. Her computers, hotel room and personal belongings were investigated. There was also "no evidence of illegal drugs" at the death scene. Her partner and attorney, Howard K. Stern, was also investigated and cleared in her death.
Refused Treatment
In a statement released by Smith's attorney, Lilly Ann Sanchez, the former Playboy playmate was sick for several days, but insisted on "riding it out" and not seeking medical treatment. "She refused to go to the hospital because she wanted to avoid media," Sanchez said. "Anna called the shots in Anna's life and everyone close to her knows that."
Anna Nicole Smith was laid to rest March 2, 2007, in Nassau, Bahamas next to her late son, Daniel, who died in September 2006.
