Racy photographs of Diana DeGarmo Joins Singing Competition|American Idol]] top-20 finalist Antonella Barba have been circulating on the Internet, creating the first scandal of this season’s show.

Antonella Barba, from Point Pleasant, New Jersey, auditioned for American Idol in New York City. In mid-February, pictures of Barba began circulating, with some of the photos proving to be more objectionable than others. One shows Barba topless with a group of other women but their chests are covered by their hands. Another shows her naked but covered in rose petals. Still others show her on the toilet or involved in a sex act.

American Idol producers and the Fox Broadcasting Company have not said much about the photos or announced whether the singer will be allowed to continue in the competition, which just entered its sixth season. With more than 30 million viewers tuning in each week, many doubt any action will be taken against the singer.
A Friend Speaks Out
Amanda Coluccio, Barba's friend who also auditioned but didn’t advance to the finals, is speaking out about the pictures. Barba, who is on lock-down from speaking with the media (part of American Idol’s rules), has been unable to talk about the photos. Coluccio maintains that some of the photos are of Barba, including the rose petal shot that she had taken for her boyfriend. The less desirable shots, Coluccio says, are not her friend. She told The Star-Ledger of Newark, New Jersey, "The really bad ones aren't her. I've studied them. It's not her nose. She's never had (acrylic nail) tips in her life. She's the least slutty person I know."
