Adam Sandler was born on September 9, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Stanley, was an electrical engineer and his mother Judy worked as a nursery school teacher. He has one brother and two sisters. From an early age, Sandler knew he was funny and that he could use this talent to bring smiles to his friends and family. It wasn't long before he was making international audiences laugh through his stand-up comedy and acting. Sandler attended New York University and found work at local clubs and campus shows performing stand-up comedy acts.

Just before graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1988, Sandler landed a supporting role on the sitcom The Cosby Show, playing Theo's friend Smitty. He also made appearances on the MTV game show Remote Control.

The Adam Sandler biography starts to gain momentum after Sandler's move to Los Angeles in 1988. During one of his comedy acts, comedian and Saturday Night Live cast member Dennis Miller happened to be in the audience. Miller recommended Sandler to SNL producer Lorne Michaels and in 1990, Sandler was brought on as a writer for the show.
