ABC Announces Lineup for Dancing With the Stars 3

Hoping to continue the momentum set by the first two seasons, ABC has announced the third season of the popular Dancing with the Stars. The show, which pairs double left footed celebrities with ballroom dancing stars, has proven to be quite the ratings bonanza for the network.
The Show
Dancing with the Stars, based on the British series Come Dancing, premiered June 1, 2005 and became and immediate hit. Like most reality contest shows, each week offers different celebrity dance segments, with viewers and judges voting on each. The lowest rated pair is eliminated.
Originally, half the points came from the judges themselves; a practice viewers felt was unfair. After protesting the outcome of the first season’s finale, a dance off ensued and another couple was crowned as the winners. What’s reality television without controversy?
Past episodes have included musical guests such as the Pussycat Dolls, Burt Bachrach, Mary J Blige, Barry Manilow, Jesse McCartney and Bill Medley.

- MSNBC News anchor Tucker Carlson partnered with dancer Elena Grinenko
- Actress Monique Coleman with Louis van Amstel
- Singer Sara Evans and ballroom dancer Tony Dovolani
- Singer Willa Ford with dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy
- Independence Day actress Vivica A. Fox with Nick Kosovich
- Actor Harry Hamlin, whose wife Lisa Rinna danced in last season’s installment, is paired with Ashly DelGrosso
- Joe “I’m too grown up to be called Joey” Lawrence and Edyta Sliwinska
- Reality Television’s Shanna Moakler and Jesse DeSoto
- NFL running back Emmit Smith partnered with Cheryl Burke
- Talk show host Jerry Springer and Kym Johnson
The Judges
- Dance judge and former professional dancer Len Goodman
- Dancer and choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba
- Dancer and choreographer Bruno Tonioli
Details
Dancing with the Stars, hosted by Tom Bergeron along with co-host Samantha Harris, will premiere September 12 at 8:00 with a special two hour episode.

Emmit Smith can dance! Surprise, surprise, Tucker Carlson was the first voted off after sitting in a chair through half of his performance. Jerry Springer is the senior citizen comic relief, in true George Hamilton style, and Mario Lopez can dance for me anytime; however, I might have to tape his mouth shut to truly enjoy the performance. My bet is Sara Evans will be the next to go even though Springer deserves the honor.
